What happens next?

1) Your mentor profile is now live on the website

Check out your profile on our Find A Mentor page.

You may now start to receive requests from mentees via the website. There is no interface for this section of the process, so mentee requests will be sent directly to your email address. Please ensure you check your junk mail on occasion to ensure no requests have been sent there in error.

2) Responding to mentee requests
Mentee requests will be sent directly to your email address. There is no need to log onto the Partner Up system to review requests.

When you receive a request, you should ACCEPT or DECLINE the request as soon as possible. You can do this by clicking the ACCEPT or DECLINE button within the request email. If you DECLINE, please insert a reason why.

After this process has been completed, an email will be sent to the mentee with your decision. If you have ACCEPTED the mentorship, you should then contact the mentee directly via their email address / phone number / Slack address (if they have given permission) submitted in their request within 72 hours.
3) If you agree mentorship
If you agree mentorship, set up a time for the initial meeting.

To help, we have put together this document for the first meeting to cover all bases and agree how the mentorship will work. We also have guides to how mentees should be setting their SMART goals and provide a goal setting template to use if they wish.
4) What is the best way to structure a mentorship?

If you agree mentorship, we propose this is the best process for a mentorship:

1) Set up a time for the initial introduction meeting, using this meeting plan template
2) Hold the initial goal setting meeting, utilising the goal setting template and Setting SMART goals information
3) Set up regular mentorship meetings

5) If you are at capacity and can no longer take on mentorships

Please log into your account and update your availability to ‘unavailable’. This will change your status on our website so our mentees are aware that you are not currently taking on more applications.

When you are ready to take on more requests, you may log into your account and update your status back to ‘available’.

6) Use our resources

Review our mentorship resources page to help deliver a good partnership, including:

Frequently asked questions

How do I access my account?

Access your mentor account here. If you need to reset your password, you can do that on the mentor account page by pressing on the asterisk tab.

How do I delete my mentorship account?

Contact us via the mentor support form if you wish to delete your account. We may need to check a few things with you, including any outstanding mentorship requests or ongoing mentorship relationships.

I have submitted a mentorship application but haven’t heard back yet. When will I be contacted?

We aim to get back to all mentorship applications within 2-3 working days. After 2-3 working days, you will receive an email from [email protected] confirming whether your application has been successful or not. Please check your inbox and junk mail folders.

If you have still not heard from us, please email [email protected] and we will look into this further for you.

I’m receiving too many mentorship requests. How do I stop this?

Simply login to your account. Select edit mode by selecting the cog icon. Head to the section named ‘Your profile (shown to the public)’ and edit the availability section to unavailable.

Mentees will now see that you are unavailable for mentorship at this current time. Mentees can still contact you through the scheme if they wish, but the likelihood of them doing so will be reduced.

I haven’t received any mentorship requests. Why is that?

There may be a few reasons why this is happening. Firstly, please check that your profile is live on the Partner Up website by searching the ‘Find a mentor‘ page. If you cannot find your profile here, it may be because:

– your application to become a Partner Up mentor was declined. Please check your emails notifications from us, including junk mail

– your mentorship profile is not complete. We will not be able to publish your profile onto our website without a complete profile, including a profile picture, a LinkedIn profile URL, and details around your skills, key mentorship topics etc

– you have completed your mentor profile, but we have not yet activated your account. To do this, please follow step 2 of the activate your account guide. Your profile may then take 2-3 working days to become active on the website.

If you have completed all of the above steps and are still having issues, please complete the mentor support form.

Do I get paid for providing mentorship?

The Partner Up mentorship scheme is free of charge, giving free access to product management mentorship to all levels of product people. The mentors signed up to our scheme do not receive payment.

I need to request additional support. Where can I request support?

If you have any questions or require additional support, please visit your account page. On this page, complete mentor support form. We aim to get back to all requests and queries within 2-3 working days.
