Working for a one of the UK’s largest hospitality businesses who are embarking on a high profile digitally led transformation, the Head of Digital Portfolio Management and Transformation / Senior Portfolio Manager / Head of Program Management role involves shaping and delivering the organisations digital transformation roadmap.
As part of the strategy and transformation leadership team, the Head of Digital Portfolio Management and Transformation / Senior Portfolio Manager / Head of Program Management
will design the digital Operating Model to enable the business to deliver a world class digital and in venue experience for millions of consumers across the UK, working in partnership with the Chief of Strategy, Director of IT, Customer Experience and Digital Director and Chief Marketing Officer as primary stakeholders.
The role is part home based with 2 days per week in the midlands offices (eg staying overnight if required).
The Head of Digital Portfolio Management and Transformation / Senior Portfolio Manager / Head of Program Management will:
-Manage a portfolio or programs, owning the digital strategic portfolio
-Manage both project/programme managers working with delivery squads
-Work across digital product teams as well as the end-to-end business
-Clearly define projects and programme deliverables which are clearly aligned to the strategy with an agreed business case
-Work with key business stakeholders to plan and design the portfolio and pro-actively monitor its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
-Maintain the overall integrity and coherence of the portfolio
-Develop the portfolio & programme environment to support each individual project within it as well as integrating with wider business requirements and constraints
-Set up portfolio Governance for all Digital projects and programmes with defined stage gates and decision makers
-Engage cross-functional teams appropriately and ensure represented within the portfolio
-Engage all stakeholders in the portfolio so that business change lands effectively into business as usual through appropriate change adoption strategies
-Define and own the portfolio’s budget, monitoring expenditure and costs to ensure that the portfolio is delivered in line with agreed budget
-Define operational measures and targets to ensure that portfolio outputs can deliver the defined benefits. With owners identified to actively report on benefit realisation
-Ensure all portfolio & programme level risks and issues appropriately identified, managed and escalated
-Deliver new products or services driven through the programme teams to meet business requirements and optimise quality, time and budget
-Ensure team members feel they are supported and feel listened too, contributing to the success of our team and have a positive experience being part of Transformation delivery.
-Prioritise continuous improvement and increasing maturity within the Transformation team and broader business.
-Be part of and support Transformation senior leadership team with management responsibilities, continuous improvement, organizational initiatives, employee mentoring and team admin.
Candidates for the Head of Digital Portfolio Management and Transformation / Senior Portfolio Manager / Head of Program Management role must have:
-Strong Portfolio Management, business transformation and change experience in a large consumer business (eg retail, eCommerce, travel, holidays, entertainment, hospitality, retail finance, telecoms, etc).
-First class communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels without ego.
-Experience as a portfolio manager with a strong background of portfolio Governance and methodology
-Experience in business analysis and strategic planning, including requirements definition and business case production
-Knowledge of product development lifecycles
-Knowledge of innovation techniques and digital design principles
-Scrum Master certification (or equivalent) or awareness of Agile/Kanban principles and engineering practices (TDD, BDD)
-Experience working in a delivery focused cross functional sprint teams
-Experience of managing a product portfolio – including defining and managing plans and roadmaps
-Experience of working with digital agencies
-The ability to combine waterfall and agile process to ensure that both business needs and digital asset developments are met
-Ideally knowledge of CRM, data lakes, website consolidation and platforms, bookings software and the organisational change required to support
-Ability to take the business from creating the vision to delivering into reality
-Experience in managing and utilising customer insight to ensure customer led solutions
-Ability to think both strategically and analytically, whilst identifying links between multiple strategies and plans
-Ability to understand and establish high level business requirements, and create structured plans over the short and long term
-Commercially astute and able to produce and articulate sound business plans that demonstrate clear business benefits and return on investment for proposed projects
-Strong leadership skills and demonstrable experience of establishing and managing cross functional programme and project teams
-A hands-on leader willing to get into detailed delivery if required
-The ability to demonstrate calm and resilient leadership to see multi-faceted teams through complex change adoption
