The recruitment outlook across our core markets of Marketing, Product Management and Ecommerce looks strong for 2011.  After a Q4 that was frustrated by poor weather, demand has continued to be particularly strong amongst our online retail, travel and media customers. 

Areas of particularly strong activity include Product Management in Media & Travel, Digital Marketing in Media (especially CRM and email marketing) and senior Trading roles.  In additions Social Media is being increasingly recognised as a specialist area by many organisations and whereas Social Media Marketing was previously bundled with the duties of generalist digital marketing professionals, customers are now seeking Social Media Marketing Specialists, reflecting the growth of this exciting channel.

Intelligent People have also seen strong demand for candidates with online retail optimisation experience, particularly relating to transaction conversion in the shopping basket and checkout, including analysis of consumer behaviour throughout the buying lifecycle.  We’ve seen a number of retailers optimising user experience around specific categories of products (such as Fashion, Homeware, Electronics, etc) and looking for candidates with UX experience within specific categories.  Online organisations who have established a strong online presence seem to be focussing heavily on optimisation, merchandising and transaction conversion.

Our research has shown that there are very few digital agencies that specialise in Ecommerce optimisation and strong candidates who work on the client side are viewed as increasingly valuable, driving up salaries.  Intelligent People are very keen to talk to anyone with digital marketing, online product management and ecommerce trading experience (particularly web trading analysis and optimisation).
