£500 – £550 per day | 3-month contract | Outside IR35 | Remote | Fractional, 2.5 days per week

Working for a creative digital publication targeting art communities (curators, museums and galleries) in Western Europe and the US, the UX Designer / D2C UI Designer will lead the design of a new web platform that will function partly as a magazine and partly as a community hub for users to read, discuss, and connect with one another.

The UX Designer / D2C UI Designer will be the sole designer on the team, so needs to be confident working independently to build out a platform from scratch, in a start-up environment.

This is a fully remote 50% FRACTIONAL (not full time) role for UK-based candidates who can work 2.5 days per week. This will initially be a 3-month contract and is OUTSIDE IR35.

Candidates for the UX Designer / D2C UI Designer role will:

  • Design and test product flows for community and editorial features.
  • Implement a consistent and scalable design system that aligns with the brand’s identity.
  • Translate wireframes into appealing interfaces.
  • Collaborate with editors, product leaders, and engineers to create a new web platform.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to help guide product decisions.

Candidates for the UX Designer / D2C UI Designer role must have:

  • Strong design experience for a publishing/content organisation (in a start-up is an advantage).
  • Ideally designed functionality for communities e.g. forums, direct messaging, discussions, etc.
  • Ideally a demonstrable interest or experience in (contemporary) art.
  • Ability to start immediately or max. within 2 weeks + work 2.5 days a week.

Candidates must be based in the UK.
