Our client is an established, heavily backed payments automation platform that streamlines money movement for finance teams — payroll, supplier payments, spend management and collections — through a single platform connected to the accounting and payroll systems their customers already use. They are a regulated payments institution with over a decade of trading, several thousand business customers from fast-growing SMEs to global enterprises, and 500 staff across four international offices. The business is profitable and growing.

This is a high-ownership role defining how the platform shows up in two of its highest-value industries: travel and lending. You will set the positioning, build the vertical go-to-market model, and arm a commercial team selling to mid-market and enterprise buyers. It suits someone who can balance rigour with pace, and strategy with hands-on craft. Several seats are being built out across the function, so there is real scope to shape what product marketing looks like here.

Location and working pattern

This is a hybrid role based in the client’s London office.  Full time and permanent. Candidates need the right to work in the UK.

Key role details

  • Define sharp, differentiated positioning for the travel and lending solutions, grounded in deep customer insight, competitive understanding and a clear point of view on where the business wins.
  • Translate a technically rich payments platform into clear, compelling messaging for finance, operations and commercial buyers, and hold a high bar for narrative consistency across every vertical touchpoint.
  • Build a scalable model for how the business enters, expands and doubles down in industry verticals.
  • Partner with product on roadmap prioritisation — shaping what gets built and how it reaches the market.
  • Arm the commercial team with assets that move deals: pitches, sales decks, one-pagers, demo narratives, competitive battlecards and win stories.
  • Support measurable improvement in pipeline quality, win rates and deal velocity in your verticals, working closely with sales leaders to turn customer insight into enablement that reflects how buyers really decide.
  • Build deep vertical intelligence — buyer personas, buyer journeys, regulatory context, competitive landscape and unmet needs — and synthesise customer conversations, win/loss and usage data into insight that shapes product, marketing and sales decisions.
  • Become the person leaders turn to when they need a clear read on a vertical.
  • Own launch plans for new vertical propositions and product updates, from positioning through to activation across web, events, press and demand generation.
  • Partner with brand, content and demand generation to turn vertical narratives into campaigns that build category authority and pipeline, and drive the quality of vertical storytelling across the website and key growth surfaces.

Experience and competencies required

  • Six or more years in product marketing or product strategy in B2B SaaS, fintech or payments, with a strong track record of marketing to mid-market and enterprise buyers.
  • Vertical or industry-led go-to-market experience is a significant plus. Payments or fintech experience is preferred but not essential for the right generalist.
  • Strategic thinking — you form sharp points of view, work from first principles, and turn complex, ambiguous inputs into clear direction.
  • Exceptional storytelling and craft: you can make a technically rich product feel simple, differentiated and genuinely compelling to finance leaders, operators and commercial teams alike.
  • Commercial orientation — you think in pipeline, win rates and revenue, not just launches and assets, and you partner naturally with sales.
  • Technical fluency: comfortable engaging credibly with product and engineering on how the platform actually works, and confident translating that into buyer value.
  • Influence and ownership — you lead cross-functionally without authority, push work forward through ambiguity, and raise the quality of those around you.
  • High expectations on messaging precision, visual presentation and quality of output, with data used to make decisions, measure impact and iterate.
  • Real fluency with AI, not just everyday use — workflows you have built and shipped yourself. There is an AI component to the interview exercise.
  • Right to work in the UK, and able to be in a London office on a hybrid basis,
