Product Lead – AI-Gaming Consumer App – £120-150k + Equity – Onsite (5 days, London)
Our client is a TikTok-style mobile feed where every item is a short, AI-generated browser game – anyone can make one from a prompt. They are now growing fast and building the product and team in central London.
The role
This role is really important to the company: this is the person who decides what the app becomes. You’ll take input from the founders and from the Product Growth Lead, but the call on what is built will be yours – which is why they are looking for top-of-market candidates.
You’ll lead a team of ~10: a Project Manager, an Engineering Lead over three seniors (iOS, Android, backend) each with a junior, QA, a UI designer, and a UX research consultancy. This is not an oversight role – you’re expected to stay in the detail daily.
Required experience:
- 6+ years in product. At least 3 of them owning a consumer mobile app (iOS + Android), and at least 2 leading people.
- Background in a social, UGC or short-form app. This is the core of the role, not a nice-to-have. Startups would be preferable to giant companies like TikTok or IG.
- Owned activation and retention for a social app. They know how to get a new user to their “aha” moment and how to bring them back on D1, D7 and D30.
- Was there for an app’s climb from 100K to 1M+ MAU. That matters more than a big-brand logo at 50M where they owned one surface.
- Has moved a headline number and can say by how much, for example D1 or D7 retention up 3–5 points, onboarding completion, or sessions per day.
- Ran a live A/B testing program.
- Strong product taste, built from using social apps daily, and a real point of view on what makes a short-form app habit-forming.
- Leads a team of about 10: a Project Manager, an Engineering Lead over three seniors (iOS, Android, backend) each with a junior, QA, a UI designer, and a UX research consultancy. Still hands-on with the detail every day. This isn’t an oversight role.
- Comfortable working through trade-offs with engineers. They don’t need deep technical or AI knowledge.
Nice to have
- Has shipped a product whose core content is AI-generated, and knows what a non-deterministic pipeline does to specs, QA and release planning.
Not a fit
- AI/ML highly technical product managers without social app activation and retention experience
- Delivery or scrum PMs who execute a backlog someone else prioritised
- “Product owners” who translate decisions rather than make them
Hiring process
- 45 minute interview with the founders
- 1 hour decision exercise interview, to see how you’d approach
- 30-minute spec & delivery interview
Logistics
- Location: London, 5 days per week in office.
