A Product Director / VP Product is needed by a global software group in process automation for industrial sectors such as agriculture and mining, serving 2,000+ clients currently.

The Product Director / VP Product will take over 2 existing and closely aligned products and merge them to create a common platform. There is no real product thinking in place currently, so the Product Director / VP Product will be expected to be hands-on, implementing good product practice, starting with a roadmap.

The client’s systems are split between web-based and on premises, so the Product Director / VP Product is also needed to offer solutions for legacy platforms. At times, the business receives bespoke paid development from clients, which will continue; where possible, the Product Director / VP Product will help integrate this into the product suite.

This role requires 4 days a week in office in the East Midlands. The Product Director / VP Product will be managing a team of 12 developers.

The Product Director / VP Product will:

  • Introduce strong product thinking within the company, starting with developing a roadmap.
  • Manage a team of developers to drive the merger of 2 similar pieces of software.
  • Maintain and migrate from legacy platforms.
  • Optimise the performance of current software.
  • Consider how AI could be integrated within existing products.

The Product Director / VP Product must have:

  • Strong product leadership experience in B2B software.
  • Managed complex, technical products previously (e.g. in manufacturing, defence, automation, or enterprise software with lengthy processes).
  • Experience leading transformations, e.g. rebuilding a product or transitioning a legacy system to the cloud.
  • Led a team of 5+.
