Chief Technology Officer (CTO)- £160-200k – Remote (1 day pw in office) – B2B Technology Business

 

Working for a global technology business that’s grown extensively through acquisition, the Chief Technology Officer role involves leading a team of 25 plus regional resources to deliver a transformation that creates the optimal technology environment to enable profitable revenue growth, operational efficiency and service excellence.

 

We need a technology leader who can quickly understand the organisational complexities, stakeholder motivations and trade-offs, and then build a change program to modernise all areas of IT and infrastructure, in alignment with the group strategy.  This includes developing the overall strategy, identifying solution options (that may change their operating model), forging strong relationships with global stakeholders to build consensus, and leading the change program.

 

This is a remote UK role with regular global travel and one day per week in their UK Head Office (Northern Home Counties area).

 

The Chief Technology Officer will:

  • Build and deploy a technology roadmap and strategy tailored to the business’ objectives and growth ambitions, delivering measurable value to the Group.
  • Act as a thought leader and strategic partner to executive leadership, identifying opportunities where technology can improve business outcomes.
  • Champion digital transformation across the organization by fostering a culture of innovation. Drive a positive feedback loop in AI and digital tool adoption, leveraging successful implementations to accelerate continuous improvement and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Through the successful delivery of technology solutions support groupwide productivity improvements, eliminate transactional tasks and demonstrate the commercial value of IT investments.
  • Accountable for ensuring the Group’s technology infrastructure is secure and meets legal and compliance standards. Ensure that risks impacting technology, Group assets and data are identified and effectively mitigated.
  • Direct effective and efficient delivery of IT services across the Group, including enterprise architecture/applications, network and data management, security protocols, IT service delivery and associated budgets.
  • Lead, mentor and manage the organisation’s IT function with a focus on internal customer satisfaction, talent development and team engagement. Ensure the right resources, training and support is available to deliver a high level of global service.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships and established technology partnerships, which support operational and strategic requirements.

 

Candidates for the Chief Technology Officer role must have:

  • Experience delivering a technology transformation in a complex global environment.
  • Candidates will have ideally worked in a B2B environment (eg software, technology, telecoms, components/equipment, hardware, etc). Candidates who have worked in global B2C environments will be considered.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management experience. Able to engage with leaders across all disciplines, understand different commercial drivers/incentives and how this affects stakeholder attitudes. Able to present and argue a business case using logical reasoning, to secure buy in and gain consensus.
  • Strong experience of modern technical architectures, cloud technology, cyber security and digital innovation for global businesses, and trade-offs across centralised/decentralised infrastructure models.
  • Experience leading and delivering large global technology implementations (eg ERP, CRM), and associated change management.
  • Ideally experience of M&A and integrating businesses under a common architecture.
