Working for a rapidly scaling global media and sport insight and data technology SAAS business who have recently raised significant funding to continue their global growth, the Head of Product Sports Data Products / Product Director Data Visualisation / Product Lead role involves leading a small product and development team to understand customer and market opportunities and shape a roadmap that delivers a world class data visualisation experience for non-technical users.
They have a very small product team and you’ll be incredibly hands on initially, and there will be a big focus on creating a scalable environment with the right amount of documentation and structure, that will enable them to build and ship world class products incredibly quickly.
This role is about sports data for sports fans, teams, media and stakeholders, and is not linked to gambling.
This is a 6 month contract role, OUTSIDE IR35, and is hybrid/London based with 2 days per week in the office.
The Head of Product Sports Data Products / Product Director Data Visualisation / Product Lead will:
- Develop and own the product development roadmap which will deliver the growth strategy for media and sports insight.
- Work with leadership, department heads and other key stakeholders to understand the market opportunities, and define a product strategy for the business which capitalizes on those opportunities
- Manage the product development team to underpin the delivery of that roadmap
- Identify the resource required to deliver the agreed roadmap, take proactive steps to ensure that the business has suitable resource, and ensure that they are effectively deployed at all times.
- Provide line management to the product team and create a desirable place for expert product managers to work, and ensure that all members of the team are supported in achieving rapid career development.
- Ensure strong communication and collaboration with the Engineering team to ensure an integrated offer to develop new products
- Work with Sales to define clear commercial and go to market strategies for new products in advance of their development.
- Understand the appropriate commercial structure for each product to reflect the market need and customer segmentation and ensure that the product development supports that structure
- Ensure that there is a clear set of revenue projections for each new product that is developed, and a sales and marketing strategy to support those projections
- Ensure that there are appropriate processes and approaches for product support across all products.
- Ensure that the end to end development process has clear stages to capture user requirements, prioritise aspects of product development and document all resultant tasks
- Ensure that there are robust project plans for each product development, including realistic timescales and resource plans and that products are delivered in accordance with those plans
- Develop simple management reporting to provide regular updates to the senior leadership team on the state of product development
Candidates for the Head of Product Sports Data Products / Product Director Data Visualisation / Product Lead role must have:
- Strong experience as a Senior Product Manager or product leader, building data, insight or analytics products.
- Ideally experience building data visualisation experiences, and presenting information in a simple and intuitive way to non-technical users, whether in a B2B SAAS of B2C product environment.
- Ideally an interest in sports, especially cricket!
- Experience managing a small product team, including people development, coaching, etc.
- Experience implementing product process and structure.
