Yearly Report 2011

Despite the general doom and gloom in the media, Intelligent People were delighted to record their 2nd highest yearly revenues since starting in 2002. As a vertically aligned recruitment consultancy who place Marketing, Product Management and eCommerce professionals Intelligent People work with Online & New Media Organisations, Telecom & Datacom Providers and the Technology Market.

Doug Bates, one of the founders of Intelligent People, said:

“As in 2010 the B2C market was by far our busiest as organisations expanded their eCommerce proposition and raced for market share. In addition to the continuing growth of online retail, the recession has driven a lot of consumers to seek bargains on the internet and so Email Marketing, CRM, Loyalty, Retention and User Experience have all been candidate driven markets with demand outstripping supply. Web Optimisation is a huge growth area and online organisations are realising benefits from investment in data-led technology; for example medium and large retail customers have achieved immediate sales uplifts of between 9% and 14% through effective personalised product recommendations and behavioural merchandising. As a result, competition for web optimisation and analytical skills (customer segmentation and behavioural insight) is also fierce.

“Rather than auctioning candidates to the highest bidder we’ve always had a client-centric approach, where we use our unique candidate footprint and market knowledge to make sure our clients are represented with integrity and consistency; whilst we don’t fill every vacancy our Clients appreciate our efforts and repeat business has been the cornerstone of the past years growth.

“During the last quarter of 2011 the B2B Market showed some small signs of growth, however budgets are still scrutinised and until there is some economic certainty we only envisage growth in niche areas or replacement hires in this market.”

Intelligent People believe the market will continue to grow, particularly within eCommerce & B2C marketing; a sample of last year’s placements is below that may prove helpful regarding salary levels.
